Review:
I just got it ... and one of my main concerns was whether it had korean characters in it ... and it does - so that is a sigh of relief. Since other reviews of Korean books complained about this (as it made it difficult for them to show the phrase to Korean people).
I enjoy using the gem editions as they're small and can fit in your purse (or if a guy in his trouser's pocket - it can even fit maybe in your jeans backpocket). They don't have everything - but most of the essential stuff. There is a pronunciation guide and a English-Korean dictionary to the back. Unfortunately not a Korean-English dictionary as well. Although for the menu reader and the section on general signs and notices they're in a Korean-English format - these may be sufficient to a person who is uncertain with the Korean language anyhow - but will make it difficult if you're translating someone else's words.
It has sections on: Talking to people, Getting around (e.g bus, train etc.), driving, staying somewhere, shopping, leisure (e.g. cinema, sport), communications (telephone, fax), practicalities e.g. (money, laundry, emergencies), health and a menu reader
