Review:
then I might be able to enjoy Gerri Hill's work more. But they are all so predictable! This time our heroine Cassie is an artist who works with wood, driftwood to be specific. She is also a woman who is attracted to women but who refuses to acknowledge her feelings, even though her bezzie mate is an out and proud lesbian. So one fine day Cassie and her chums are sitting in a cafe when this gorgeous woman walks in. Cassie's heart does a paso doble in her ribcage - and you absolutely know what's going to happen. The object of her affection is a woman called Luke (few of Ms Hill's protagonists have 'normal' names I've noticed) who is an architect. All that said, I kept turning the pages, not to see what was going to happen, that's sort of a foregone, but rather when it would happen. However, the arrival of Cassie's homophobic clergyman of a father almost caused me to fling the book out of the window. Too silly for words....but I read it until the end, hence the three stars.
