I have read about five or six books on lighting in my quest to understand the subject of studio lighting,this is a very helpful book.
This book has a broad scope,covering all forms of natural and artificial
light,and then goes on to explain how to use these sources in various ways eg sharpening light,diffusing and enveloping light etc as well as the way daylight changes effect and characteristics between sunrise and sunset!
Great book.i'm glad i bought it.
also look at "photographing people" by rotovision and "light:science and magic" by Fil hunter.
